Borrowing power
Know what you can borrow before you ask
Three numbers decide it, and you see all three: what your shares are worth, how much of that counts as collateral, and how much of the collateral you may borrow.
Valued at the market price
Your pledged shares are valued at the latest price, then revalued as the market moves.
A cushion for price swings
A haircut is taken off each stock, larger for the more volatile ones.
A limit you can see
The most you can borrow is a set share of the collateral value. It is shown before you apply.

Protection
Built so there are no surprises
Borrowing against shares carries real risk. Here is how we keep you informed and in control.
Pledged, not sold
Borrowing locks your shares as collateral. They are not sold to fund your loan, and they come back to you when it is repaid.
Warned before it’s urgent
We watch the value of your collateral against your loan. If the market moves against you, you get a margin warning and clear options: add collateral or pay down the loan.
Terms in writing, up front
Interest, fees and the full repayment schedule are shown before you accept. Statements are there whenever you need them.
Verified accounts only
Every customer is identity-verified before they can trade, borrow or lend, and every change to a loan or its collateral is recorded.
FAQ
Questions, answered plainly
Do I have to sell my shares to get a loan?
No. The shares you choose are pledged and locked as collateral for the life of the loan. You keep owning them, and they are released once the loan is fully repaid.
How is the amount I can borrow worked out?
We take the market value of your eligible shares, apply a haircut to allow for price swings, and then apply a loan-to-value limit. The result is your maximum loan. You see each of these figures before you apply.
Which shares can I use as collateral?
Not every listed security is eligible. Eligibility depends on things like how actively a stock trades and how volatile it is. Your portfolio view shows which of your holdings qualify.
What happens if my shares fall in value?
If the value of your collateral drops too far relative to what you owe, you will receive a margin warning, and then a margin call if it continues. You can add more collateral or repay part of the loan to bring it back in line.
How do repayments work?
Repayments are collected automatically on your schedule through SureRepay. You can also make extra payments, repay part of the loan, or settle it early.
Can I get my shares back while they are out on loan to someone else?
Yes. You can recall shares you have lent. They are returned to you under the recall terms you accepted when you offered them.
